Dr. Rafael Cilloniz was born and raised in Peru. He was involved in sports, particularly soccer, since he was very young but struggled with asthma for several years limiting his ability to play. He was introduced to asthma inhalers at young age and had such an impact in his quality of life that motivated him to pursue a career in the medical field to help other children the same way. He completed his Medical School training at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru and moved to the United States in 2004. He received his pediatric and pediatric pulmonary training at University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, FL graduating in 2010. He then moved to Baton Rouge, LA where he worked for 6 years at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center caring for children with complex respiratory problems. He joined our practice in 2017 and currently works at our Lake Park, Wellington and Port St Lucie offices helping Florida children breathe better.
Dr. Cilloniz is happily married and has 2 boys. He loves sports and outdoor activities, particularly soccer and continues to actively play till this day. He is a member of the United States Medical Soccer Team and has been traveling around the world to compete at the annual World Medical Football Championship representing the United States team since 2013
